Hi @Lara Martins,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
Sorry to hear your Surface Slim Pen 2 has suddenly become unresponsive. When the LED won’t turn on, it’s usually best to rule out charging/pairing and firmware first. Please try the steps below:
1) Confirm the pen is actually charging (and reset the charging path)
- Make sure your Surface is plugged into power and turned on (if it’s off/hibernating/very low battery, it may not charge the pen).
- Re-seat the pen in the keyboard storage tray (or charging accessory) and look for LED activity. The LED indicators can help confirm whether it’s charging or entering pairing mode.
- If you charge via Surface Pro Keyboard:
- Detach the keyboard > Shut down the Surface
- Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds (keep holding even if the logo appears)
- Reattach the keyboard, then press Caps/Fn to confirm the keyboard is receiving power, and dock the pen again
2) Install updates (Surface app + Windows Update)
- Open the Surface app > expand Help & support > check for updates, then install any available updates via Windows Update.
Note: The Surface app can show accessory battery, but it relies on the accessory being properly connected/paired to report status.
3) Try re-pairing the pen (if the LED comes back)
- Press and hold the top button for ~5–7 seconds until the LED flashes (pairing mode), then go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device and select the pen.
4) If there’s still no LED light at all
If the pen’s LED doesn’t turn on even after charging, it may be time to pursue replacement/service options. You can check Device service and repair for available replacement offers or contact Microsoft Support to review repair/replacement options.
If you try everything above and it still won’t respond, contacting Surface Support would be the next best step so they can check eligibility and available service options in your region. Kindly refer How to get service or repair for Surface
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
