Sole Global Administrator locked out of Microsoft 365 Business – MFA failure – Data Protection assistance required

Hello Microsoft Support Team,

I am the owner and sole Global Administrator of a Microsoft 365 Business tenant.

I am currently unable to access my Microsoft 365 Business account due to an MFA authentication issue.

When signing in, Microsoft displays a two-digit number for approval in Microsoft Authenticator. However, although my business account is visible in the Authenticator app on my Android phone, no approval request appears.

I have also attempted the alternative authentication method through Outlook for Android, but no verification request is received there either.

As a result, I cannot access Microsoft 365, OneDrive, or the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

I am the only administrator of this tenant, and there is no other administrator who can reset my MFA authentication methods.

I have already contacted Microsoft's Italian telephone support numbers, but the automated system does not connect me to an agent or provide a support case number.

Important clarification:

The Microsoft account I am using to access Microsoft Q&A and publish this request is NOT the Microsoft 365 Business account affected by the authentication issue.

I am using a separate Microsoft account solely to contact support because I cannot sign in with my affected business administrator account.

Please ensure that any investigation, MFA reset, or recovery procedure is performed on the affected Microsoft 365 Business tenant, not on the account used to post this question.

My request:

I kindly request assistance from a Microsoft moderator to initiate or escalate a Sole Global Administrator MFA Tenant Lockout case to the Microsoft Data Protection / Tenant Recovery team.

I am available to provide the affected account details, tenant information, subscription billing records, and proof of ownership through an official private support channel.

I would appreciate a private message or written instructions to begin the recovery process without requiring access to my locked administrator account.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards

    Hello @Francesco,

As you have already attempted telephone support without success, you can try creating a temporary Microsoft 365 trial tenant to submit a support request.

Step 1: Create a temporary trial tenant

Visit the Microsoft 365 Business Plans page.

Choose an eligible business plan, such as Microsoft 365 Business Standard, and select Try free for 1 month, if available.

Follow the registration instructions using an email address you can currently access.

Create a new administrator account and complete the setup process for your temporary organization.

    Step 2: Contact Microsoft Support

Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center using your new administrator account.

Navigate to Support > Help & support.

Select the option to contact support and create a support request.

Explain that you are the sole Global Administrator of a different Microsoft 365 tenant and are locked out due to MFA.

Request assistance with tenant ownership verification and MFA recovery, including escalation to the Data Protection team if appropriate.

Please note that the temporary tenant will not provide access to your original tenant. It is only an alternative way to contact Microsoft Support. Remember to cancel the trial before renewal to avoid potential charges.

I hope these steps help you reach the appropriate support team and recover access to your account.

    Best regards.
