Insertion point on word documents

I have vision issues. When I use word to draft a document, the insertion point is impossible to see. How can that be fixed so that I can see where it is, instead of making changes to an area that I don't want changes to.

Term "Injection point" changed to "insertion point" by moderator for clarification.

Others are well-being I'm sure but most of what has been suggested affects the pointer, not the cursor. The fact is that the blinking insertion point [i.e., cursor] cannot be altered by Word or by System Settings. Its size is controlled by the OS based on font size & Zoom. The best solution is to work at a higher Zoom percentage than you normally would. Zoom can be controlled by a variety of keyboard methods if you prefer to use them rather than using the mouse/touchpad.

Another option to consider is the use of Dark Mode which allows working in white on a black background and provides higher contrast as illustrated in this screenshot:

In Windows you can adjust the size and thickness of the pointer (what you refer to as the injection point) to make it easier to see. This is affects Word and all parts of the operating system. I believe you can do the same with a Mac. See Make the pointer easier to see on Mac.

The Office apps do not have an available setting to change the text insertion cursor, the Office apps take the setting from the operating system, in Windows there are many accessibility settings available to make the cursor thicker and also change the color of the cursor.

On an apple mac your options are very limited, open System Settings or Preferences, go to Accessibility - Display, in there you may find the available settings on a Mac device.

    Hi Nori,

Word for Mac does not have a setting to make the blinking insertion point thicker, so I would make it easier to spot from the system side instead:

    1. Enlarge the pointer. Open System Settings (System Preferences on older macOS), go to Accessibility, then Display, and drag the Pointer size slider to the right. This also enlarges the I-beam cursor you see over text.
    2. On the same screen, turn on "Shake mouse pointer to locate". A quick shake of the mouse briefly enlarges the pointer so you can find it.
    3. Still on the same screen, turn on Increase contrast. This makes the thin caret stand out more against the page.
    4. In Word, raise the zoom. On the View tab, click Zoom and choose a higher percentage, or drag the zoom slider at the bottom right of the window. Larger text means a larger, easier-to-see insertion point.

    Thanks!
