Welcome to Microsoft Q&A
Hello @Alexandru Vuta
If the storage account was deleted, your first priority should be to determine whether the storage account itself can still be recovered.
Unfortunately, if blob soft delete, container soft delete, or blob versioning were not enabled before deletion, Azure Blob Storage does not provide a supported way to recover individual blobs after permanent deletion.
Step 1: Check whether the storage account can be recovered
- Open the Azure portal.
- Navigate to Storage Accounts.
- Select Restore deleted accounts (if available in your region/subscription).
- Check whether the deleted storage account appears in the list.
- If it appears, select the account and choose Restore.
Step 2: Verify recovery prerequisites
Storage account recovery is supported only if:
- The storage account was deleted recently (within the supported recovery period).
- The account was deployed using Azure Resource Manager.
- No new storage account has been created with the same name.
- The original resource group still exists (or has been recreated).
Step 3: Open a support request if the account doesn't appear
If the storage account doesn't appear in the recovery list:
- Go to Help + Support in the Azure portal.
- Select Create a support request.
- Choose:
- Service: Storage Account Management
- Problem Type: Deletion and Recovery
- Problem Subtype: Recover deleted storage account
Because versioning and soft delete weren't enabled, restoring the storage account is the best possible recovery path. Azure documentation states that recovery of deleted blob data isn't supported when the data protection features weren't enabled before the deletion.
