Create assessments

Assessments are implementations of a specific standard for which your organization decides to draft and prepare responses in external reporting in Dynamics 365 Sustainability.

You have two options for creating assessments:

  • Start with an assessment, reviewing the requirement and then adding your response as concepts and facts.

  • Start with creating concepts and facts first, and then link them to an assessment requirement.

Create an assessment

  1. On the left navigation, select Assessments.

  2. Select New.

  3. Name your assessment, select the relevant standard, such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and then complete the required fields.

  4. To generate a set of requirements from the template, select Save & Close.

Respond to requirements

Use an assessment to review the requirements in a reporting standard, determine which requirements are material, and connect the concepts and facts that support each response. The redesigned experience keeps the requirement hierarchy visible while showing the selected requirement and its related data in a focused details pane.

Review and navigate requirements

  1. Open the assessment, and select the Requirements tab.
  2. Use the tree on the left to expand or collapse topics and browse the requirement hierarchy. Select a requirement to display its details on the right.
  3. Use search to locate a requirement, including requirements nested under parent topics.
  4. If available, filter the requirement list by status or materiality to focus on the requirements that need attention.
  5. Collapse or resize the requirement tree when you need more space to review the requirement description and linked data.

Set requirement mentality

You can update materiality for one requirement or for multiple requirements at the same time.

  • To update one requirement, select it and use the materiality control in the details pane.
  • To update multiple requirements, select the check boxes next to the requirements, and then select Mark as material or Mark as immaterial from the command bar.
  • When you select a collapsed parent topic, the selection can apply to the requirements grouped under that topic. Review the selected-requirement count before applying a bulk update.

Add concepts and facts

The Data section shows the concepts and facts associated with the selected requirement. You can see dimensions tied to a fact in the same view, so you can review the supporting data without opening each fact separately.

  1. Select a requirement, and then select Add data.
  2. On the Select concepts step, search for and select one or more existing concepts. If the concept doesn't exist, create a new concept from the same flow.
  3. Select Next to add facts. For each selected concept, search for and select one or more facts that provide the reporting value for that concept.
  4. Select Save and close. The Data section refreshes to show the linked concepts, facts, and dimensions.

Add a fact later

You don't need to add concepts and facts in the same session. To add a fact to an existing concept later, locate the concept in the Data section, open its More options menu, and then select Add fact. Select the fact or facts, and save your changes.

  • To remove a fact from a concept, locate the fact in the Data section and select Unlink fact.
  • To remove a concept from the requirement, open the concept's More options menu and select Unlink concept. Make sure you unlink the underlying facts of the concept before unlinking the concept.

Unlinking removes the association from the selected requirement. It doesn't delete the underlying concept or fact record.
