An administrator or an end user can install the Sales agent. As an administrator, you can install the Sales agent on multiple platforms. As an end user, you can install the Outlook add-in and Teams app from Microsoft Marketplace in Outlook or Teams, as long as your administrator doesn't explicitly block them. For information about privileges required to use the Sales agent, see Privileges required to use the Sales agent.
Automatic installation for eligible Dynamics 365 users
Microsoft automatically installs the Sales agent for users who have a license to either of the following:
- Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise
- Dynamics 365 Sales Premium
Eligibility is evaluated regularly. If a user is assigned an eligible license later, the Sales agent is installed automatically for that user. Existing installations aren't changed.
Automatic installation also applies to users in the European Economic Area (EEA). It doesn't depend on whether Microsoft 365 Copilot, Cowork, Scout, or another supported surface is already enabled.
The Sales agent is delivered as a single Sales app package that includes components for supported surfaces. Installing the package doesn't grant a user a license for, or access to, Outlook, Teams, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Cowork, or Scout. The user can access a component only when they already have access to its surface and the required feature is enabled.
| Surface | Component | End-user access after automatic installation | Additional requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outlook | Sales Outlook sidecar | Users can open the Sales app and Sales pane immediately after installation. If the Sales experience is disabled, users see a message that the app is blocked for their organization. | Users must have access to Outlook and an eligible Dynamics 365 license. |
| Teams | Sales Teams app | Users can open the Sales app in Teams immediately after installation. If the Sales experience is disabled, users see a message that the app is blocked for their organization. | Users must have access to Teams and an eligible Dynamics 365 license. |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | Sales agent | The Sales agent appears in the list of agents after automatic installation. If the Sales experience is disabled, users see a message that the app is blocked for their organization. | Users must already have access to Microsoft 365 Copilot through a qualifying Copilot license, and agents must be enabled for the organization. |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot in Dynamics 365 | Sales agent in Dynamics 365 | The Sales agent is available in Dynamics 365 only when Microsoft 365 Copilot is enabled for the environment and app module. Automatic installation alone doesn't make the Sales agent available in Dynamics 365. | An administrator must enable Microsoft 365 Copilot for the Dynamics 365 environment and app module. |
| Cowork | Sales plugin | The Sales plugin is visible after installation but is turned off by default. Users can turn it on and use it once Cowork is enabled for the organization. | Users must have a license for Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on. A tenant AI administrator must enable Cowork for the organization. |
| Scout | Sales plugin | The Sales plugin is visible after installation but is turned off by default. Users can turn it on and use it once Scout is enabled for the organization. | Users must have a license for Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on. A tenant AI administrator must enable Scout for the organization. |
| Copilot Code | Sales plugin | The Sales plugin is visible after installation but is turned off by default. Users can turn it on and use it once Copilot Code is enabled for the organization. | Users must have a license for Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on. A tenant AI administrator must enable Copilot Code for the organization. |
Note
The additional requirements in the preceding table apply only to accessing the Sales agent on each surface. Individual features within the agent might require additional licenses.
Administrators continue to control access to the Sales app and its features. Automatic installation doesn't override app blocks, platform access controls, Sales agent access settings, or existing user permissions. To configure feature access, see Configure access settings for features in the Sales agent and Manage access to Sales agent across Microsoft apps.
Admin-deployed installation
You can install the Sales agent as an integrated app on multiple platforms or as an individual app on a single platform. Whichever method you choose, you can start from either the Microsoft 365 admin center or Microsoft Marketplace to install it in Outlook and assign users. If you start from Marketplace, you'll finish installation in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Either way, we recommend an administrator installs it for best performance and usability.
Additionally, to install the app within Teams, you need to go to the Microsoft Teams admin center and create setup policies to install the app and assign users. If you install the Sales agent for Teams from Marketplace, you'll install it to your personal scope only, not for your users.
You need to be a Microsoft 365 administrator to deploy and install the Sales agent for Outlook and Microsoft 365 apps. You need to be a Teams administrator to deploy and install the Sales agent for Teams.
For steps to install the Sales agent in Outlook, Teams, and Microsoft 365 Copilot, see Install the Sales agent in Outlook and Microsoft 365 Copilot and Install and pin the Sales agent in Teams.
Important
After you install the Sales agent in both Outlook and Teams, you must also set up Sales agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot to use the chat capabilities of Sales agent in Outlook and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Note
If your users are using Salesforce, ensure that Microsoft Power Platform is not blocked. You can check its status on the Connected Apps OAuth Usage page in Salesforce. If it's blocked, you need to unblock it to use the Sales agent and might take up to 24 hours for the add-in to show up for your users.
User-deployed installation
As an end user, you can install the Outlook add-in and Teams app from within Microsoft Marketplace in Outlook or Teams respectively, as long as they aren't explicitly blocked by your administrator.
When you install the Outlook add-in, it's considered user-deployed instead of admin-deployed and will not have full feature support. User-deployed add-ins don't support the Sales agent banner notifications that appear within the top of new or reply emails. Also, the Sales agent is not added automatically to meeting invites. However, you can manually add the Sales agent to the meeting to get meeting summaries.
