My account got hacked and I managed to recover access to it, but I don't have my games anymore?

I own two Minecraft accounts, and I have the original purchase receipts for both accounts saved in my email and on my PC.

I have their emails and passwords saved in my phone, so I am 100% sure that these are the emails and I later changed the password

Last week, my PC was hacked, and one of my Minecraft accounts was also compromised. I managed to recover access to the affected account two days ago. However, after logging in, I noticed that I could no longer access or play Minecraft using this account, even though I had already purchased the game. It is like I never bought the game. NOTE: I lost access to the Microsoft account and not the gmail account.

I have the original purchase receipts for both Minecraft accounts, which I can provide as proof of ownership. I would like some help to restore access to the Minecraft game I purchased or help me understand what happened and what should I do. Also, I bought a membership from hypixel if this help.

Edit:

I managed to find another email that it might be the one conncected to the account that got hacked. However I can't reset the password and it only ask me to restore the account.

I don't use the email. I use it only to play Minecraft so I don't have the required information, I have the phone number registered to the email, but it wouldn't let me reset the password using my phone number.

    Hello Leo,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Before we proceed, may I know if the AI assistant suggestion helps you? Please let me know the results.

Also, may I know when you recovered the account, does anything change? Does the gamertag or nickname get changed? And may I know how you get the access back.

    I'm waiting for your reply.

Check the recovered Microsoft account’s Order history first: if the Minecraft order is absent, you are likely signed into a different Microsoft account from the one holding the license; if it is present as Completed or Redeemed, escalate it as a missing entitlement.

    1. Determine which account owns Minecraft

    1. Sign in at the Microsoft account order-history page using the recovered account.
    2. Select Payment & billing → Order history.
    3. Set the date range to include the original purchase date.
    4. Look for Minecraft and check whether its status is Completed or Redeemed. Microsoft specifically advises checking the correct account when multiple accounts exist.^1^

Then use the matching case below.

    If the Minecraft order appears

The purchase is associated with that recovered Microsoft account. Do not buy Minecraft again.

    1. In Windows, open Microsoft Store → profile icon and sign out.
    2. Sign back in with the exact Microsoft account whose order history contains Minecraft.
    3. Open the Xbox app and Minecraft Launcher, sign out of each, and sign back in with that same account.
    4. In Microsoft Store, open Library and check whether Minecraft or Minecraft Launcher offers Install. Microsoft documents that purchased games can be found in Order history or the Store library.^2^
    5. If the launcher still displays Buy, contact Microsoft Support and report:
“Minecraft purchase is Completed/Redeemed in this account’s order history, but the Minecraft Launcher does not detect the entitlement.”

    Provide:

    • Microsoft order number
    • Purchase date and amount
    • Minecraft edition
    • Current Xbox gamertag
    • Screenshot or printed invoice from Order details
    • Screenshot showing Buy in the launcher
    • Confirmation that Microsoft Store, Xbox app, and Minecraft Launcher use the same account

The support path is Get Help → Contact Support; the sign-in helper can also offer an agent depending on the issue.^3^

If the Minecraft order does not appear

The recovered sign-in has not been shown to be the account that owns the game. A Gmail address can be used as a Microsoft account name, but the Gmail mailbox and Microsoft account are separate. Also check any alternate email address that may have been associated with the purchasing account; Microsoft recommends searching email accounts for purchase receipts when identifying the correct Microsoft username.^4^

Compare the recovered account with your receipt:

    • Microsoft order or transaction ID
    • Original Microsoft sign-in address
    • Purchase date, amount, and payment method
    • Minecraft username and Xbox gamertag
    • Any alternate email address or phone number formerly attached
    • Whether the gamertag shown now is the same one used before the compromise

If the recovered account has a different gamertag and no matching order, explain that clearly in the support request. Do not post receipts, order numbers, email addresses, or payment details publicly.

Support routing depends on when and where Minecraft was purchased:

    • Before July 25, 2022: Minecraft Player Care uses transaction IDs for Mojang accounts and qualifying older Minecraft purchases.
    • Microsoft Store purchase after July 25, 2022: Microsoft Support handles it.

Minecraft’s transaction-ID guidance explains how to locate proof in the confirmation email or through the payment provider.^5^ Minecraft support options are available through its Help Center.^6^

Your Hypixel membership may help identify the Minecraft username or UUID used on the server, but it does not establish a Microsoft Store Minecraft entitlement; include it only as supplementary account-history evidence.

Secure the recovered account and PC

Since the password has already been changed, do not simply repeat that step. Instead:

    1. Run Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Scan options → Full scan → Scan now. Microsoft recommends clearing malware before making further account-security changes.^7^
    2. Open the Microsoft account Recent activity page and inspect the last 30 days.
    3. Mark unknown entries This wasn’t me or select Secure your account.
    4. Remove unknown trusted devices, security methods, and application permissions; then enable two-step verification. The activity page records events such as alias changes, security-information removal, password changes, and permissions granted to applications.^8^
