Contact Microsoft Support or call your bank to report the incorrect charge and request that they stop the payment.

Contact your bank or card issuer immediately, report the payment method as compromised, and ask them to block and replace it—not merely dispute the existing gaming charges—so further unauthorized charges are prevented.^1^

    Identify and stop the charges

    1. Open Microsoft’s Manage your payments page: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2246882
    2. Sign in with any personal Microsoft account you may have used.
    3. Select Investigate beside the unrecognized charge. Microsoft lists recurring subscriptions and in-app purchases among the possible sources.^1^
    4. If nothing appears, repeat this with any other Microsoft email addresses you own. Then give the bank the dates, amounts, and statement descriptions and ask it to open a fraud investigation.

Do not post your card number, bank statement, email address, or other account details here. Microsoft Q&A participants cannot access billing records.

If you find an unwanted recurring subscription

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services using the account associated with it, then:

    1. Find the gaming or Xbox subscription.
    2. Select Manage.
    3. Select Turn off recurring billing and complete the prompts.
    4. Confirm that an expiration date is displayed. If the page instead says Turn on recurring billing, renewal is already disabled.[^2^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Turn recurring billing on or off for a Microsoft subscription | Microsoft Support")

Turning off recurring billing prevents future renewals but does not itself dispute charges already made.

    Request refunds

For gaming purchases that appear in the Microsoft account:

    1. Open the Xbox digital-game refund page: https://support.xbox.com/help/subscriptions-billing/buy-games-apps/refund-orders
    2. Sign in and select the relevant purchase.
    3. Choose Request a refund, provide the reason, select Next, and then Submit.

Microsoft states that refund requests may take up to 72 hours to process and that eligibility depends on the purchase.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Get a refund for apps and games purchased from Microsoft Store | Microsoft Support")

If the purchase is absent from every account, cannot be refunded online, or was genuinely unauthorized, continue the fraud dispute with the bank. Blocking or replacing the compromised payment method is what stops additional card-based charges.

If purchases appear inside your Microsoft account

Treat that as possible account compromise:

    1. Run an updated antivirus full scan first.
    2. Change the Microsoft account password.
    3. Review the account’s security and connected-account settings.

Microsoft recommends scanning before changing the password when recovering a compromised account.^4^

If Microsoft assistance is still required, open https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2258619, enter the billing problem, select Get Help, and then Contact Support.^1^
